ABOUT R.Y.A.G

We are a proactive group of young people from Rhyl inNorth Wales. We have been active since 2003 and now have our own limited liability company. We receive training, funding and support from various organisations such as the Princes Trust Cymru, WEA, Welsh Assembly, Working Links, Comic Relief, DVSC and the WCVA to enable us to provide facilities, training and services and activities to our peers.
We identify and highlight gaps in provision and then take action ourselves and with our partners and supporters to fill them.
Our goal is to create ongoing generations of young community leaders and empower large numbers of young people to take positive action in their community. Via our projects we hope to improve the general health & wellbeing, confidence, citizenship and position in society of young people living in multiple deprivation.
We try to direct young people into an environment of peer mentors and youth workers, whose aim is to encourage participation in informal education, decision-making and social activities.
We work in partnership with other youth & community based groups, to achieve these aims when possible; however do not participate in many newly created token partnerships or those where young peoples views are not genuinely valued.
All our members have the opportunity to become company directors or to feed their views to the current directors to help direct the groups aims, youth workers and an advisory panel also exist. With a current membership of over 500 local young residents who we consult with and engage via our projects such as the Youth Cafe, YouthBank, Digilab and our participation team and new partnership project with the Rhyl City Strategy we aim to be a fully youth directed and self financing group by 2017.
