RHYL YOUTH PARTICIPATION TEAM
Comic Relief have funded the employment of two local youths who have undertaken an apprenticship in Youth Work.
We hope to widen our network of young people who are involved in local decision making, managing and delivering projects and providing funding to their peers for community projects. We will do this by employing two young community leaders and supporting their individual personal development with training as professional Youth and Community Workers.
They will be involved in engaging and supporting younger people in their community who have never had a chance to participate in any form of activities or decision making and work with them to establish either routes into existing programs and projects or to create new small projects that they themselves run. Rhyl desperately needs role models, crime and drugs are serious issues in the area, although the Government has made Rhyl a policing priority area for these issues there is still much to be done.
By creating peer role models we hope to engage and educate youths at high risk as to consequences. The Youth Café open 6 days a week would also provided access to professional advice from The Princes Trust Cymru, Youth Inclusion Project and other agencies who will be housed with us on issues like drug and alcohol misuse, homelessness, leaving care & education. formation to follow. |
